Malaysia International Shipping Corporation (MISC), which has the charter contract for Marechal Duque de Caixas's floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) unit, has awarded Siemens Energy an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for key aspects of the unit. The FPSO unit is about 180 kilometers off the coast of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The contract includes provisions for the unit's power-generation and compression topside modules, including seven gas-fired turbines. The FPSO, ordered by Petroleos Brasileiros S.A. (Petrobras), will be its third production unit in Mero offshore field development, in the pre-salt area of the Santos Basin.
